Horse Books

Serving the Well-Read Rider with Good Horse Books
Since 1973

"A learned Arab has told us that paradise on earth is to be found on the back of the horse, in the pages of a book, and in the arms of one's beloved. A book about horses should, then, rate as one and a half terrestrial paradises, at least."
- after George Gaylord Simpson

Besides books, we carry ephemera (catalogues, pamphlets, magazines, programs, etc.); some prints and photographs; and a few books about hounds, livestock, and farming.

We have many books that aren't online, so please contact us if you don't find what you're looking for here. Or, when you're in the Boston area, come browse in our shop near Harvard Square. One way to reach it takes you along a sidewalk set with golden horseshoes, which mark the ride of patriot William Dawes in 1775. There are fine old carriage houses nearby, and the site of the Cambridge trotting track, where the great mare Lady Suffolk raced, is up the road.

We've supplied many thousands of books to horsemen and women, collectors, libraries, and horse lovers of all kinds around the world. We can help you find that one special book or develop an entire collection. We appraise books for insurance, estate, or donation purposes. If you have books to sell or trade, we'd love to hear from you.

We exhibit our books at Horse World Expo in Harrisburg, PA, and at Equine Affaire in West Springfield, MA. From time to time we attend other trade fairs and conferences. Check News & Shows for details and for show discount coupons.
