Front cover reads: "Regular Service Edition." No d.j., probably as issued. Some light marginal pencil marks throughout. Ink name, dated 1907. ** This detailed reference to "the whole subject of apartment house management" is a wonderful look at city life at the turn of the 20th century. Over 1400 numbered sections treat the janitor's duties, apartment house rules, and care of plant and property (elevators, dumbwaiters, boilers, furances, pumps, roofs, awnings, and much more). The janitor should "never fail to get a bath at least once a week." Much of the repair work, cleaning, etc., was to be done in June ("the dull month"). Some of the instructions for care of machinery are specific to certain makes. Can be sent outside the U.S. for $18 or less.
