"Recherches experimentales" into the change of leg at the canter, based on sequential timed photographs by F. de Launay ("chronophotographies"). Most of the line ills. show gentlemen or military riders, but one series of about 3 dozen images is based on a demonstration by the famed amazone Therese Renz on her horse Cromwell. The author wrote other studies of gaits and jumping, which was a popular topic in turn-of-the-19th-century French horsemanship books.
