The Arabian Stud Book: Vol. II [annotated]

Cairo: E.A.O. of Egypt, 1967? First edition. Hardcover (leather spine rubbed). Ca. 350p, printed on one side; many photos. Some closed tears here and there, not affecting content. Fore-edges lightly foxed. Very sturdy. Some corrections or additions in purple ink by the former owner, an Arabian breeder who traveled to Egypt to buy horses. Very good minus. Item #30032

The stud book lists horses 1-406. The next part lists "Inshass" horses, ancestors of the E.A.O. (nos. 407-540). In each part the horses are grouped by strain. In the stud book: Saklawi, Hadban, Dahman, and Kohailan. In the "Inshass" section: Saklawi, Kohailan, and Ubayan. The Dahmen strain is also listed there, but the previous owner has crossed out this reference and the pages have been excised. The stud book lists horses sold abroad and their purchasers, also horses presented to various rulers and officials. Laid in is a photo-stenciled sheet with additional sales in the 1950s and 1960s--to individuals, the Egyptian Police Cavalry, and the National Circus. (Not in Wells).
