These vernacular woodblock books were cheap popular editions of Japanese fables, legends, epics, romances, etc., told through a mixture of interwoven images and text in a sort of comic book format. The genre is known as both gesaku and gokan. This is an assorted group by two of the leading creators, probably late 19th century, sold as a lot.
