Reunion de Peintres & Sculpteurs de Chevaux; Catalogue de la Douzieme Exposition

Paris: G. de Malherbe [printer], 1904. First edition. Stapled softcover. 8p, no ills. Good (creased; cover wear, covers loosening). Item #31070

Checklist of 170 works of equestrian art, which were exhibited at the Grand Palais during the Paris concours hippique (horse show) of 1904. They included oils, watercolors, sculpture, and a few drawings. Among the artists, most of whom are long lost to canonical art history, were several women--Anna Palm de Rosa, Marie-Jeanne de Parseval, Olga Paschkoff of Russia, and Vicomtesse H. de Villeneuve-Bargemont. Addresses are given for all. The subjects were portraits (horses, riders), hunting, racing, genre scenes, etc. Scarce: WorldCat locates 1 copy each of 2 earlier years (Utrecht, BN). Can be sent outside the US for less than the default shipping rate.

Price: $95.00
