Then follow many local ads for wallpaper, furniture, pianos, sewing machines, carriages, clothing, agricultural machines, paints, clothing, confectionery, crockery, one photograph studio ("wanted 1,000 persons! to sit for photographs"), etc. An unused memorandum-style calendar for July 1889-June 1890 is inserted in the middle. Machias is the county seat of Washington County, Maine, and was the site of the first naval battle in the American Revolution (1775).
