Classic collection of 40 firsthand accounts about the range horse from the 19th-century on--"the most extensive and informative compilation on mustangs and mustangers ever printed." The texts are by a wide variety of writers--historians, travelers, cowboys, etc., including George Catlin, Dobie, Robert M. Denhardt, John A. Lomax, and others. The subjects include "Black Kettle," "The Deathless Pacing White Stallion," "Texas-Mexican Horse-Breaking," "A Boy's First Horse," etc. Lots of good stories here! (Wells 2013).
