1941. Item #6715
The Blood-Horse. A Quarter-Century of American Racing: Silver Anniversary Supplement to The Blood-Horse of August 30, 1941. 256p, many photos and ads. Good stapled paperbound (outer pages pulling away from staples, as usual, but binding is secure). Spine mended, top of covers torn at spine. Internally very good, clean, complete. ** Year-by-year review of Thoroughbred racing and breeding, published to celebrate The Blood-Horse magazine's first 25 years (1926-41). Also with feature articles by various writers (Joe H. Palmer, Neil Newman, "Salvator" [John Hervey], J.A. Estes, David Alexander, etc.), and various year-end statistics. Lots of historical details, a valuable first-hand reference to a golden age of the American turf. The print quality is much superior to the later reprint, and this edition includes many ads for stallions and farms that aren't in the reprint.. Can be sent outside the U.S. for less than the default shipping rate.
