1957. Item #A5509
Kleemann Galleries, NY. Hans Uhlmann. Exhibition catalogue, 1957. 24p, ca. 24 ills. Checklist of the 37 sculptures and drawings on view. Original(?) text by Will Grohmann. Good paperbound (faded, back cover stained). ** "Hans Uhlmann was the first sculptor in Germany to experiment with steel and iron. He was also the first to arrive, after some further experimentation in sheet-zinc and wire, at non-objective construction" (Grohmann). In the 1930s his "degenerate" works were removed from German museums, and he was held in custody for two years "for passing out anti-fascist leaflets" (Ketterer Kunst website). Can be sent outside the U.S. for less than the default shipping rate.
