We're delighted to announce that we'll be taking part in the Attingham Trust Study Programme, "The Horse and the Country House," in England in September. We have in stock some of the books on the program's suggested reading list. A selection of them, plus others that may be of interest, are included in "Featured Books" at the bottom of this page. Quantities are very limited. For other titles related to the program's theme, search by the keyword Attingham, or go to "Browse Horses" and then look through the topics Art, Driving (especially other World on Wheels volumes), Farming, Horses in Society & History, and Hunting. We're happy to ship postpaid to Attingham participants within the United States.

Practical Horsemanship
Kerr, W.A.

Kerr, W.A. Practical Horsemanship [cover reads: Riding; The All-England Series]. London: Bell 1891. (Handbooks of Athletic Sports series) x, 222p + [8]p of ads, many line ills. Fair hardcover (shaken, covers soiled). ** Introduction to handling, riding, bitting, saddlery, shoeing, etc. (One of the ads is for mounting animal hoofs "in new and original designs" for use as inkwells or trophies.) Another edition adds a section on sidesaddle riding. This edition includes the "Riding for Ladies" title and contents pages, but not the actual section. Probably this is a binding error, since the book is complete as is. Can be sent outside the U.S. for less than the default shipping rate. (Wells 4193). (Item ID: 12368)
