We're delighted to announce that we'll be taking part in the Attingham Trust Study Programme, "The Horse and the Country House," in England in September. We have in stock some of the books on the program's suggested reading list. A selection of them, plus others that may be of interest, are included in "Featured Books" at the bottom of this page. Quantities are very limited. For other titles related to the program's theme, search by the keyword Attingham, or go to "Browse Horses" and then look through the topics Art, Driving (especially other World on Wheels volumes), Farming, Horses in Society & History, and Hunting. We're happy to ship postpaid to Attingham participants within the United States.

The Hub's Vocabulary of Vehicles
Houghton, W.W.

Houghton, W.W. The Hub's Vocabulary of Vehicles. Undated facsimile reprint of the 1890s original [ca. 1970s?]. 55p, several line ills. (chiefly in the ads for various horse goods). Very good hardcover, no d.j. (as issued?). Laid in is the reprint publisher's note drawing attention to the fact that ca. 12 pages were printed illegibly. He has supplied gummed replacement pages, which can be mounted over the illegible pages. You will then have "a completely readable book." ** Alphabetical descriptions of all manner of carriages and other horse-drawn vehicles that were in use in the mid-1890s. Includes measurements of carriage tracks in the U.S. and many foreign countries. First published in New York by the Trade News Publishing Company. Can be sent outside the U.S. for less than the default shipping rate. (Item ID: 14559)
