We're delighted to announce that we'll be taking part in the Attingham Trust Study Programme, "The Horse and the Country House," in England in September. We have in stock some of the books on the program's suggested reading list. A selection of them, plus others that may be of interest, are included in "Featured Books" at the bottom of this page. Quantities are very limited. For other titles related to the program's theme, search by the keyword Attingham, or go to "Browse Horses" and then look through the topics Art, Driving (especially other World on Wheels volumes), Farming, Horses in Society & History, and Hunting. We're happy to ship postpaid to Attingham participants within the United States.

Official Record of Show Horse Sires and Dams 1949-1950 [Saddlebred]
Horst, Katharine Kay; Official Horse Show Pub. Co

Official Record of Show Horse Sires and Dams 1949-1950 [Saddlebred]

Official Horse Show Publishing Company, comp. (copyright Katharine Kay Horst). Official Record of Show Horse Sires and Dams 1949-1950 [vol. 1 of 2, complete in itself]. Lexington, KY: Official Horse Show Publishing Company 1951. 175p, several photos. Good hardcover (shelfwear) with mounted photo of Society Rex 15454. Endpapers stained from binding glue. Uncredited title page vignette is probably by Milton Menasco. ** This book was intended as an annual supplement to the Official Horse Show Blue Book, but to the best of our knowledge only 2 years were published. It aims to list all the "official and authentic" sires and dams of show horse winners, with their winning progeny. Although, like the Blue Book, it includes Arabians, Hackneys, Tennesee Walking Horses, and Thoroughbreds, the emphasis is on the American Saddle Horse. All the featured horses with write-ups and photos (paid for by their owners or breeders?) are Saddlebreds, including golden Saddlebreds. Hundreds of sires and dams are listed. Only a handful of U.S. libraries hold copies; scarce. (Item ID: 14925)
