Poor to fair paperbound (incomplete). Original pictorial card covers (quite worn, rubbed). Lacks pp. [1-4], including a color title page, the folding frontispiece, and a page of harness printed in gold. One leaf (pp. 19-20) detached. Two plates (double buggy harness and collars) defaced with a child's penciling and crayoning. The other plates are generally very good and clean, with occasional pencil numbers in the margins. ** A flawed but affordable copy of the remarkable trade catalogue called by Romaine "one of the finest color plate records in the field." Contents: pp. 5-81 driving harness; p. 82 plow harness and dump cart harness (for mule); pp. 83-84 collars; pp. 85-139 saddles (western, English, McClellan, sidesaddle, Morgan, racing, many more); pp. 140-143 harness (gig, express, coupe saddles); pp. 144-146 bridles; pp. 147-160 cart saddles, breeching, lines, hames and tugs, traces, martingales, blinders, etc. On pp. [161]-180 is a Net Price List for 1891, with prices handwritten in red. The final printed leaf is a chromolithographed ad for the catalogue's engraver-printer, Cohen & Co., printed in black, red, light green, and gold.
