We're delighted to announce that we'll be taking part in the Attingham Trust Study Programme, "The Horse and the Country House," in England in September. Watch this space for a forthcoming selection of books related to this theme.

The Caprilli Papers: Principles of Outdoor Equitation
Caprilli, Federico

Caprilli, Federico. The Caprilli Papers: Principles of Outdoor Equitation. London: J.A. Allen 1967. 39p, 40 photos. Very good hardcover in good d.j. (short closed tear to front, light shelfsoil). ** Presents and interprets Caprilli's writings on the forward seat--"a true equestrian revolution . . . accomplished by one man, an original thinker if ever there was one, which was to change the face of military, outdoor and competitive riding all over the world" (from the foreword by C.E.G. Hope). The old photos chiefly show the Italian cavalry riding in pre- and post-Caprilli style. One of the classic works on horsemanship. The binding of this thin book is usually splayed; this copy is much better than usual. (Wells 1334) Can be sent outside the U.S. for less than the default shipping rate. (Item ID: 163)
