The Boke of Saint Albans: Containing Treatises on Hawking [etc.]
Berners, Dame Juliana

Berners, Dame Juliana. The Boke of Saint Albans: Containing Treatises on Hawking, Hunting, and Cote Armour. London: Elliott Stock 1905. Facsimile edition (1st pub. 1486). Introd. by William Blades. Fair hardcover (top of backstrip torn, suitable for repair, but the binding is sound). Fair d.j. (torn). ** The very rare Boke of Saint Albans was the first English-language book on hunting. The facsimile pages are printed in black letter in antiquated English and will be hard to read, but the informative introduction considers this important work's authorship, typography and bibliography, subject matter, and philology. Horses are treated in passing. (Item ID: 6591)
