Welcome -- Celebrating 50 Years!

This is my 50th year of selling good horse and art books!  Watch this space for special lists and sales during the year.

Newest catalogue -- BOOK ARTS IV: THE IDEA OF A BOOK.  You can view or download the PDF from "Catalogues and Lists."

Now available -- CATALOGUE 60: THE HORSEMAN'S HAND.  You can view or download the PDF from "Catalogues and Lists."

Although my shop of 37 years has closed, it's my pleasure to offer books and ephemera via this website.   I also participate in various virtual book fairs, and I occasionally sell equestrian material on eBay, as pegasusbooks.  If you'd like regular notices of new arrivals, please sign up to receive them under Topic Notification (choose Art or Horse, or both).  This is my primary way of keeping in touch with you. And though I can no longer handle most special orders, large purchases, or consignments, I'm always glad to hear about books wanted or for sale.  (A word about the book photos here: they tend to be too dark or to magnify flaws.  I'll gladly describe condition in more detail if needed.)

Thank you for your ongoing loyalty and support of an independent bookseller.  If you like this site, tell your friends!

R.I.P., Jim Wofford.  Jim was a dedicated student of horsemanship books, generous with his knowledge, and a longtime champion of what I aim to do.  He enriched my bookselling life, and I will miss him.   For a candid look at his life with horses, dive into his memoir "Still Horse Crazy after All These Years" (item 30198), and for solid eventing tips, pick up "Cross Country with Jim Wofford" (item 30987).

"A learned Arab has told us that paradise on earth is to be found on the back of a horse, in the pages of a book, and in the arms of one's beloved.  A book about horses should, then, rate as one and a half terrestrial paradises, at least." -- after George Gaylord Simpson

Art and Other Books

"I came in from the roar | Of city streets | To look upon a Grecian urn."-- Langston Hughes, opening stanza of "Metropolitan Museum"
