Welcome

WEB SITE ON HIATUS

Hello, and thanks for 37 years of memories!  The bookshop is now closed because the building has been sold, and the inventory is temporarily offline.  I plan to start up the web site again in February.

I'm not retiring or going out of business!  I'll continue to sell books and ephemera online, on a smaller scale and with a focus on older material.  I also participate in various virtual book fairs, and I sell equestrian material on eBay, as pegasusbooks.  And though I can no longer handle special orders, large purchases, or consignments, if you'd like notices of new arrivals, please sign up to receive them (choose Art or Horse, or both). From now on, these are the only customer lists that I'll keep.

Thank you for your loyalty during almost 50 years total of selling good art and horse books.

Horse Books

Serving the Well-Read Rider Since 1973

We sell used, rare, and selected new books about horses and all equestrian subjects (except handicapping).  We also carry ephemera (catalogues, pamphlets, magazines, programs, etc.); some prints and photographs; and a few books about hounds, livestock, and farming. Our inventory is very large. We love to seek out the obscure, the uncommon, and the overlooked in all fields, from all periods, and in all languages.

We've supplied many thousands of books to thousands of collectors, libraries, and horsemen and women around the world.  We invite you to join them!

"A learned Arab has told us that paradise on earth is to be found on the back of a horse, in the pages of a book, and in the arms of one's beloved.  A book about horses should, then, rate as one and a half terrestrial paradises, at least." -- after George Gaylord Simpson

Art and Other Books

Specializing in Art History, Architecture, and Related Fields Since 1973

With our shop colleague H.L. Mendelsohn we sell out-of-print scholarly books in art history and architecture.  Our strengths are artist and architect monographs, 20th-century exhibition catalogues, prints and drawings, photography, classical archaeology, landscape and garden design, urbanism, decorative arts (especially 20th-century ceramics), book arts, and equestrian sporting art.  We also have some 20th-century children's books (many in French or German) and books on poetry, history, philosophy, and related fields.

For over 30 years art historians, collectors, architects, artists, students, and art lovers of all kinds have enjoyed our wide selection of reasonably priced books.  We invite you to join them!
