Our Shop

When and Where
Tuesday-Saturday, noon-6; other times easily arranged. Please phone ahead if you're coming from a distance, as occasionally we're closed during our regular hours. We're at the back of a leafy garden and not visible from the street.  Usually we have a big blue "1640" banner near Tocco Classico hair salon, but the weather destroyed it and right now it's wrapped around its tall pole.  Follow the garden path through the white trellis-work arch, and head down the stairs.  You've found Cambridge's "hidden bookstore!"

Getting Here
We're between Harvard and Porter Squares (about half a mile each way), near the Red Line T and the 77, 77A, and 96 bus stops. Walking beside the Cambridge Common will take you along a sidewalk set with golden horseshoes, which mark the ride of patriot William Dawes in 1775.  There's metered parking on Massachusetts Avenue, but no side street parking.

Our Neighbors Include...
Starbucks, Marathon Sports, Hi Rise bakery, Harvard Law School, Lunder Arts Center at Lesley University College of Art and Design, Longy School of Music, and the many independent specialty shops and good local restaurants that have led the Boston Globe to call this stretch of Massachusetts Avenue "the new Harvard Square."  The side streets are lined with lovely Victorian houses and gardens.
