Over 1600p total, photo on every front cover and occasional photos inside (chiefly stallions at stud). Covers soiled and rubbed (especially one corner); magazine covers occasionally faded. In addition to the news and feature articles, vol. 1 lists the 1931 stakes winners (alphabetically and by Lowe family), stakes-placed horses, and stakes races. Vol. 2 lists yearlings sold at 1932 North American auctions. These magazines are a treasure trove of racing information: news of horses, races, farms, and personalities; sales; ads; factual articles such as J.A. Estes on in-breeding in Kentucky Derby pedigrees; etc. The April 16 issue features a cover story on Phar Lap's death, with a poem by Estes. Other prominent horses during the year included Burgoo King, Dark Secret, Equipoise, Faireno, Questionnaire, and Top Flight. Both volumes are fully indexed. It would be hard to find all this information elsewhere. Heavy; shipping/handling will be extra. Please keep this in mind when ordering.
