Ben-Hur was first published in 1880; this illustrated edition reprints the episode of the chariot race and the events leading up to it. Handsomely printed by letterpress, but the book's real appeal is its dramatic pictorial binding--royal purple stamped in gilt and color. It was designed by the firm Decorative Designers. Though the columns on the right are rubbed, the binding is overall very bright. Great for display.
