Pedigree Book: Mares belonging to Chr. Christenson, Hailsham (1909)

Compiled in Newmarket: Tindall & Co. (printer), [1909 and later]. Not published. Full leather (scuffed). A handwritten pedigree book, consisting of half-sheets for recording matings and other information. About 3 dozen half-sheets are filled out in various hands, in ink and pencil. The rest of the book (most of it) is blank. A primary document of early 20th-century English Thoroughbred breeding. Good. Item #30422

The opening and closing pages contain notes about many horses, going into 1919. The half-sheets usually contain 5-generation pedigrees, Lowe family numbers, what the mare was bred to, the offspring's training and racing record, and many mysterious notes and numbers in blue pencil. It will take a demon researcher to decipher what was going on. According to The Thoroughbred Record on Google Book, a Christopher Christenson was racing in the US in 1921. Large and heavy; shipping/handling will be extra. Please keep this in mind when ordering.
