[20 Real Photo Postcards: Camargue Horses of Southern France]

Various cities in France: Various publishers, n.d. [ca. 1960s-70s]. No stated edition. Postcards. Overall very good. Unmailed; the backs are blank. One card bears a typewritten note in German to an unnamed baroness, dated November 1960, but it didn't go through the mail. Very good. Item #30476

These are the white horses made memorable in the 1950s film “White Mane,” who live wild in the marshes at the mouth of the Rhone River. These real photo postcards show activities of the Camargue cowboy “gardians,” scenes of the annual pilgrimage in Stes. Maries de la Mer, some close-ups of horses and men (including one of the Marquis de Baroncelli), a gardian game, and the like. Produced by various firms in Arles, Marseille, Paris, and Nantes—chiefly Photo George, Gaby, and Mireille. Makers and identifications are stamped or printed on the back. Sold as a group. Can be sent outside the US for less than the default shipping rate.

Price: $25.00
