Reprints the popular poem (1st published in 1858) about the dramatic collapse of the deacon's 100-year old chaise. It has been interpreted as a parable of "a moment when the concrete world fell into chaos" (David Acton). Wonderful details of what goes into making a vehicle without any weak parts to break down one by one. Issued as a sort of keepsake by Milburn, with a personalized invitation to a visitor to "inspect any department in our works." Can be sent outside the US for less than the default shipping rate. A scarce survival.
