Subtitled "Devoted to Man's Noblest and Best Friends" and as of June-July 1947 subtitled "Dedicated to the creation of adequate bridle paths, and the perpetuation of the horse for show, sport, and national defense." Articles on Arabians, Thoroughbreds, early Quarter Horses, Saddlebreds, breeding, jumping, and more, by John Hervey, Carl Raswan, Lee Rice, distance rider Frank T. Hopkins (inspiration for the movie "Hidalgo"), etc. Some emphasis on horses in early California and the West. Several covers are paintings by T. Edgar Johnston.
