Handwritten mating record for the two stallions. In April-June 1829 Brown Highlander served 56 mares. In May-September 1850 Knickerbocker served 42 mares, and in April-August 1852 he served 61 mares. The mares are identified only by color and owner, with one exception: a Chickasaw mare was bred to Brown Highlander. There is no indication of the stallions' breed. Stud fees all noted (usually $8), and whether the mare missed. Written in ink in a rapid but usually clear hand. More details on request, such as owners' names.
